Desert Island Media Choices - Act 1, Scene 1.

Enter Scraggly Man, stage left. A dolphin jumps in the background. An island in the foreground, beachy. Clear day, moderate wind. Several palm trees sit around doing tree things.

Scraggly Man: Boy oh boy am I ever hungry out here.. and talking to myself, GET A GRIP MAN!
Offstage: YEAH GET A GRIP

Scraggly Man: ...

SM is shocked.

A box washes up on the beach, in a beautiful display of inertia and friction, a shining spectacle of granulated wood boxery against a beach upon which pirates once ate, drank, and were merry.

SM: Hot diggity dog, a box!
SM opens briskly walks over, opens box. Removes smaller box, opens. Removes Christmas bag. Removes a stack of books.

SM: Hah, some Christmas this kid would've had!

Boxes are terrible Christmas gifts, you see. Even more plain lame are books. However, for someone such as I, a Scraggly Man, in this certain situation could quite duly do with a book with which to examine written word in an analytical fashion.

Exit SM front. Tsunami gradually getting closer in background.

Books are grand and a most preferable type of media for several reasons. For one such as myself who lives isolated in Paris where nobody at all lives, they provide a long lasting sort of engagement.

Personally, my most passionately followed form of media would be that of the internet,statistically speaking.

PopCulture today was not the same as it was yesterday. It is constantly changing. Take the internet for example, Barell-O'-Uses is what it is. Used for many things such as E-Mail and Instant messaging, research, and also acts as a massively accesable virtual hard drive. I use it for a heck of a lot of things. Research, communication, entertainment, information, and even education.

Desert Island Choices - My 3

If i was in a similar position to Scraggly Man, and had to choose only 1 material from 3 different categories of media, they would be; Toa Te Ching in the form of literature. Mainly because this would provide insight to oneself, and secondly because it would be possible to spend days weeks and months deriving the actual meaning and application of each passage. In musical form, I would have to have a "Best Of" album of Rage Against The Machine (RAtM). RAtM would be a good choice because it's the kind of music you listen when things need to get done, and being on a desert island, a lot of things would have to get done. As my 3rd and final choice I would choose a portable radio. Reasons being that 1) I could listen to the news, music, and world events. 2) I could possibly modify it to broadcast and get my lonely butt off the island.
